  • Inktober 2019 – Day # 8 Frail

    Tiny Tim, Ink and markers

Tiny Tim is one of the characters from the Mickey’s Christmas Carol movie (1983). This film is based on one of the works by Charles Dickens. Seeing that winter holidays are closer, I wanted to draw a character that corresponds to the season: Tiny Tim. Really, it’s Morty who is one of the Mickey Moise’s nephews, and he portrays as Tiny Tim.

I notice that from time to time, I keep drawing whatever association I do with a random word. Such as today for the word “frail,” which is one of Inktober 2019’s prompts. My patience, by the same token, remains resilient through the process. As can be seen, some drawings are showing some progress because of my patience. Clearly, patience is an important soft skill as artist. With this on mind, I will add background of my next drawings. Let’s see how far I’ll go!

    Wishing you a good week,

    Rafa

The Spider-Man universe’s Green Goblin is one of most mindless characters that I know from the comics. Simple character design with one of most idiotic personalities from Marvel comics. I had a great time on inking it. The eyes kept creeping me out, LOL. He tried to drift my focus away with his foolish tricks.

Damn green goblin! To shut him up, I am re-sharing one of my former fan-arts of Spider-man/Venom! 😛 TAKE IT, GREEN GOBLIN!!!

  • Inktober 2019 – Day # 1 – Ring in American Sign Language

I did something different instead to draw something that associates with ring. Yes, I’m hard of hearing, and my deaf girlfriend teaches me ASL. Not only because of my awareness on the Deaf culture, but also is fun to draw the hand from observation instead to use a photographic reference. I did with pen, ink and old sharpies. Random choice of colors just for fun.

This brings me memories from my guitar class. My teacher commented on the importance of consistent practice to master our craft. He used his hand on a simple gesture to show it. I will narrate on the best way I remember.

    Professor: Can you draw it?
    The class: Maybe
Professor: How about this? – He tilted his hand with a few bend fingers, on a diagonal angle.
The class: Shrugged shoulders with a lot of mutterings.
Professor: As long your practices are consistent, you will draw anything, same goes for the guitar.

I love to jam with my guitar, but is not something that I have on mind as a career. Art is my passion, writing comes second, and guitar playing comes on place. I am committed to draw daily to master my craft.

Here others I did before of my right hand doing American Sign Language.

To wrap up this post. I invite to read an article that made me to recall my passion from art since childhood.

To Find Your Next Act, Look Back To Your Childhood

    Regards,

    Rafa.

  • A Link to the Past

    Hello there!

I have been drawing a lot lately, so I want share something. I did this one for fun because I needed a break from those exercises. You know, I won’t abandon my blog again as before, so I am here now, keeping it active.

I chose Link from the The Legend of Zelda franchise to use those old sharpies markers. besides I did not draw fan art for a while. I will redraw this one later with better markers (Copic!)

    Link, ink and markers

Although is a rough drawing, I started to remember why I like TLOZ. My first time playing was on one of my uncles’ Super Nintendo. Oh man, it was the first game where I used a sword and magic to beat dungeons’ bosses! Lol, I still remember the way I discovered the vengeful behavior of those chickens. I tested the bow and arrow over them, and they fought against Link. Not only the mechanism of the games, but also the lore hooked me.

Now, I encourage you to do some fan art to honor one of your childhood’s fictional characters. It feels so good remember those good times of our childhood.

That’s all for now. Don’t forget to suscribe to my blog, please. Thanks for reading my blog!

    Best regards,
    Rafa

  • Back from a hiatus!

    Hello world!

I don’t have written since the post about abstraction with one of my paintings. My apologies, an unannounced hiatus occurred, but I am back since a few months ago. The artist’s block is what held me back for a while – Ugh, blank paper! I have been watching some videos from other artists, reading in-depth articles about creativity, and thinking how to improve my skills.

After some thinking, I realize that blogging will keep me accountable as well to connect with other artists. With this on mind, I invite you to my artistic journey. Please, subscribe to my blog. You can also follow me on social media.

One last thing, English is not my first language, yo hablo Español. Now, you are aware of my grammar. Read here to learn more about me.

Bonus: I love creative writing too! One of my goals is to write and draw my own comics.

To inaugurate the return of my blog, I am sharing what I have been up.

    Thank you.

  • What is Abstraction?

    Cheese Pizza with Bacon
Cheese Pizza with Bacon Water & Oil media, stretched canvas

Abstraction was born from the breakup of matter with the space. The reason that she declared a divorce to the space is to compose on her own will. There are feelings that she wants to express on her own way and pace without regulations.

She does not want to follow any traditional rule. She wants to run free. Because of he loves her in deep, he proposes to remarry him, and promises her on being more flexible with her.

“My love, I let you grow on your own way under my love that will nurture you to unexpected horizons. On all the forms or colors that you desire.”

His word became gold. She started to grow along him without limitations. His generous heart made her to pour more from herself on her own pace and comfort. She was happy because she was able to put her own personality.

    And they lived happily ever.

Tweet me, please, what is abstraction for you.

Note: I posted it before, and chose to share with some minor editing. I italicized the keywords that I associate with abstraction.
